In order to conceptually understand logs, kids must discover that logarithms and exponents are inverses and that a log is actually an exponent itself. Let me know if you need me to clarify.
This is a huge topic for both Pre-Calculus and Calculus. To do it justice, I think that it needs to be more than one period. The lesson above is really big. I plan on getting through as much as possible on Monday, and then finishing on Tuesday.
Tuesday's lesson will be to finish this one (6.3) and to have the kids do a discovery worksheet that brings up the properties of logs. If you finish the worksheet on Tuesday early, you can begin lesson 6.4 which gives a lot of practice around the properties.
Wednesday will be 6.4.
I have not made a clicker test yet, because I am not sure that there will be time. Please let me know if you want me to make one.
In this lesson, many of the solutions and hints are behind boxes that FADE...just click the box and it will reveal the answer. Some answers are not included.
